Hispano Suiza H6 Tulipwood 1924.psd
  • For those who love classic cars or are enthusiasts of automobiles in general, it is really a no brainer that the name Hispano Suiza instantly reminds one of the finest sports cars ever created. Started by Mario Hispano in 1924, this company went on to create some of Italy's most beloved and successful car manufacturers during the decades that were known as the Italian Motor Car Industry's Golden Era. The company continued to stay on top of their craft and their reputation would never fade even after so many years. Today, more people are beginning to realize just how long this company has been around for.

For those unfamiliar with the company's past, it was founded by Mario Hispano Suiza, a car enthusiast from Milan. It was then that he started experimenting with the new types of materials that could be used to make a quality sports car. He decided to use aluminum alloys for the bodywork, using a magnesium spindle that incorporated the use of the material known as magnesium metallurgy, which meant that the H6b bonnet was developed at a much higher level.

The original intention was to develop an automobile that could be used to compete in the prestigious 24-hour race that was organized by the Grand Prix of Barcelona. The first model that was produced was the Hispano Suiza H6b bonnet, which was fitted with a water-cooled 4-cylinder engines and featured a transmission that had shift paddles. The brakes were also upgraded, with two independent discs instead of the one that were offered on the stock model. As such, this car is considered to be one of the first water-cooled automobiles ever produced, making it an excellent example of a classic engine. It also features a manual transmission and was completed with real Brembo brake pads.

  • It is difficult to describe the interior of a car like the Hispano Suiza H6 a unique sports car from the 1920s. The company that made it, hispano suiza, went through more than fifty years of existence before they ceased its operations in the year 1963. Designed by Pininfarina, this little masterpiece from Italy is truly amazing and it's story is truly incredible. Made for a racing program, the H6 was originally conceived as a streamlined, low drag, high-speed vehicle that could take on any terrain. The original plan was to launch it against cars piloted by the legendary Juan Parra, the ace pilot who pioneered air-to-air combat during the World War II.

The original plan was to build it for the air show circuit in which it would run alongside fellow classic marques such as the Rebellion and the Pagani. However, in early tests the engine ran out of breath, so the team decided to install a two-litre V powering engine instead. To further reduce weight, the air intake was installed instead of a streamlined hood, and the result was the Hispano Suiza H6 - classically regarded as a sports car. The name "Hip" came about as a result of a test that the car carried out under wind resistance, and tests concluded that it had the ability to achieve great speeds even on a poor track. The Italians also added a long straight line called a birdie to their cars to increase down force, to improve cornering performance and overall handling.

    Hispano Suiza H6 Tulipwood 1924.jpg
  • One of the rarest cars in the world is the Hispano Suiza H6 Tulipwood from 1924. It was created for the Blackhawk Museum in Danville, California, and has been produced in a limited edition ever since. This model was created to be a unique and luxurious model. It radiates exclusivity and class. And you can add paint to make it even more special.

This classic car is one of the few remaining examples of the original 1924 Hispano-Suiza production line. The tulipwood body was designed and built by Nieuport, which produced 28 fighter planes during World War I. The H6C engine produced 8 horsepower and was paired with a three-speed manual transmission. Andre Dubonnet commissioned the car and entered it in the Targa Florio in 1924.

This Spanish-Swiss luxury saloon was built in Paris and Czechoslovakia under license from Skoda. The car was only ever supplied as a rolling chassis and custom bodywork was manufactured by the finest car-body builders in Europe. The H6T was a winner of the Targa Florio in 1924. It was a true triumph and Andre Dubonnet even drove home in it from Naples.

The Hispano-Suiza H6 Tulipwood is a classic luxury car with an excellent history. This automobile was a marvel of engineering. During the First World War, the company had designed and built 50,000 V-12 airplane engines. This was the basis for the H6. The Hispano part of the name referred to the firm's Barcelona location. The Suiza part was the name of the Swiss engineer Marc Birkigt, who was recruited by Emilio de la Cuadra.

  • A 1936 Rolls Royce Phantom Jonkheere was the first production car designed by the company. Its design was inspired by aerodynamic designs by Joseph Figoni and Jacques Saoutchik. The streamlined silhouette of the Jonckheere was achieved by repositioning the vertical grill and adding bullet-shaped headlights. The windshield was also steeply raked.

The body of the Jonckheere car was created by a Belgian factory near Roeselare. This company started building automobiles in 1902 and was already producing bus bodies in the 1930s. The company is still operating today as VDL Jonckheere. Regardless of its history, the company is known for the high standard of craftsmanship. Even the Phantom's name has changed, but the same spirit and heritage are present.

The Jonckheere was the first luxury automobile. It was designed by a company near Roeselare in Belgium. The company's first luxury car, the Phantom, was built here. By the 1930s, the company had branched out to produce bus bodies. It is still in operation as VDL Jonckheere. The car's body is more or less identical to the earlier Phantom.

A 1924 Rolls Royce Phantom or with convertible body by Hooper was commissioned by a Detroit-based American lady, who was not interested in having one built in the United States. After the aforementioned car was purchased, it was sent to the Belgian Jonckheere brothers. The Jonckheere brother's hand-crafted the car's body, and records of the process were destroyed during World War II.
