The Citroen DS was presented at the Paris Motor Show on 6 October 1955 and struck like a bomb ("La Bombe Citroën"). The car had different characteristics and applied techniques that had not been combined in one car until then.

The Citroen DS came third in the "Car of the Century" election in 1999 and was selected by a panel of leading car designers, by the British magazine "Classic & Sports Car", as the "most beautiful car of all time"
