Many paintings of a woman diving into the clouds are pieces created in the early summer for what we today call pinups. As with any art form this one has been commercialized and changed slightly over the years to fit today's standards. Most people view pinups today as sexy women posing in a provocative pose. I prefer to view these types of paintings in a summer setting because there is much more freedom and the colors are a little brighter.

One of the most popular styles of this type of painting is one which shows a young woman floating lazily above the clouds. This type of painting is very romantic and tends to grab my attention right away. The tones of blue and green are very soothing and give the illusion that the sky is touching the ground. I love this painting because it does not try to make me think of anything else than just the pure beauty of this girl in the clouds.
