The Chevrolet Impala is one of the most popular generations of Chevrolet cars. This is the generation of cars that is recognized as the "stones" of classic car lovers. When we look back at the history of this classic car it is hard not to be awed by the engineering, design, and craftsmanship that went into the making of these cars. Now, as we look forward to all that Chevrolet has to offer with their line of high performance, luxury vehicles, we are reminded that the Impala Special Sports Coupe from 1958 is the most radical concept ever conceived by any automaker.
For example, the Chevrolet Impala Special Sports Coupe was the first vehicle from this generation that featured both a convertible top and a hard top. The top had to be taken down in the winter to keep out the cold but the hard top could be opened for air flow and temperature control. Both the top and the hard top were designed with lightweight materials so that maximum fuel efficiency could be achievelight-weightht weight materials also allowed a more aerodynamic profile to the vehicle, which was highly important in the day and age of aviation. A truly remarkable concept that remains virtually unrivaled in modern Chevrolet automobiles to this day.
As you can imagine, the Chevrolet Impala Special sports coupe had many critics at the time, but it did not slow down or get boring over the years. It is still an amazing car to drive and has stood the test of time for being a timeless, luxury car. Chevrolet made a great automobile back then and even today the Impala continues to serve as a great family car or a sporty luxury car that is desirable by many. Today's Chevrolet Impalas continues to live up to its name as a symbol of American classic cars.
