This painting is a reflection of my deep longing for the innocence and simplicity of childhood – a time when the world felt vast yet safe, and every moment was shared with someone dear. The painting shows two young girls, seen from behind, standing together on a sandy beach, with the infinite horizon behind them. The older girl puts her arm around the younger one, showing that they're there for each other.
The scene is full of movement, with the sea waves shimmering and rolling towards the shore, catching the sunlight on their crests. The sky is filled with lazy clouds, kissed by the sun as it sets. I chose this interplay of light to capture the bittersweet beauty of those fleeting moments.
To capture the heart's desire to return to the past, I used a muted palette of soft pastels, deep ocean blues, and warm gold sands. The edges of the canvas are left unfinished, giving the impression that this memory is being gently pulled from the depths of time.
I want this piece to evoke a sense of nostalgia – to remind us of the friendships that shaped us and the magic of our youth spent by the sea, dreaming of the future.
