This painting is all about the complex inner world of the human spirit. It's about the tension between freedom and restraint, calm and chaos.The woman in the painting is a bit of a mixed bag, and she's made up of different shapes, like fish and birds. Each part represents a different part of her personality, and together they make her a bit like she's somewhere between earth and sky, water and air, instinct and thought.
The fish represent her emotions, which we don't usually think about, and the birds represent her desire to be free and reach for the sky. Together, they show the different things she wants in her life.
Her face is split into two sides, showing calm resolution on one side and restless longing on the other. She's both, and together they make a whole.I'm trying to show the beauty and complexity of what it's like to be human, with all our contradictions.
